Confrontation
︎
Every
intercultural encounter raises questions – this is not surprising.
In this chapter, Henry, Julia and Franklin open up to tell you some
of the fears, beliefs and doubts that they had before and during
their international volunteering experience.
Henry
is a volunteer of Astovot. Remember? It’s
the Togolese organisation!
He currently serves as a volunteer in Belgium,
and right now he’s a workcamp leader for Javva.
Henry wishes some things would change,
so he starts a conversation with you.
︎
Julia
had a dream…
She decided to volunteer for a couple of weeks in Tanzania. This was going to be her first experience. Julia had already worked for a few years for an organisation in the volunteering sector, therefore she thought it was going to be easy. At least she knew what volunteering was about. Nevertheless, her unconscious caught her by surprise…
Franklin
goes to Europe
From Tanzania to France, a great journey begins for Franklin.
On the eve of his departure he shares his fears and expectations with you.

An Idea for a Conversation
Do the volunteers have the same expectations and views about volunteering when they are from different cultures?
Eva and Brenda gave us their answers about their experience.
